What is a Body Contouring?

After weight reduction surgery, or any substantial amount of weight loss, yourskin and tissues often lack the elasticity to conform to the changes that have occurred in your body. With body contouring, Ridgway Plastic Surgery offers our patients a full suite of techniques that can align your appearance with changes in your body structure. Based upon your anatomy, and your individual plan for and motivations for managing your weight, Dr. Ridgway will work with you to craft an approach to remove excess fat and skin while improving the shape of your underlying support tissue. For many of our patients, the result is amore contouredappearance that fits your body.

Is it right for me?

Body contouring procedures may include:

  • A facelift to address sagging through your face, jowls, and neck

  • A breast lift to address sagging, flattened breasts

  • A tummy tuck to remove an apron of excess skin hanging over your abdomen

  • Or lower body lifts to address sagging of your abdomen, buttocks, groin, and outer thighs

  • A medial thigh lift to address sagging of the inner, outer and mid thigh

  • And a brachioplasty (arm lift) to remove any sagging tissue in your upper arm

In general, good candidates for body contouring are:

  • Adults whose weight loss has stabilized
  • Healthy individuals without medical conditions that impair healing or increase risk of surgery
  • Non-smokers
  • Individuals with a positive outlook and realistic goals
  • Individuals that are committed to leading a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and fitness
Success is often about understanding our patients’ motivations, their ideal, and knowing what can be achieved in ways that fit their life.
